Spice Up Your Kitchen Style

Since we spend so much time in our kitchens, they need to function well AND look great.  Here are lots of quick, fun tips for updating your style and adding flair to one of your favorite hang-out spots.

Choose a new color – Paint is an amazing way to make over the look of a room – quickly and inexpensively.  Reds are terrific for eating areas because the color fuels your appetite and makes for lively conversation.  Yellow is also a positive, sunny choice for kitchens.  Greens and blues are great for those who enjoy a quieter meal.

Get a quick burst of color – Place a vase of fresh, colorful flowers on the center of your eating table or on the center island.

Display your collections – Take out your beautiful dishes and stemware, and use them as artwork and accessories.

Clear the top of your refrigerator – Although this may intuitively seem like a perfect place to store books, bottles, and extra knick knacks, the clutter will affect your mood.  You’ll be amazed at the transformation in the room simply from clearing this space.

Change your cabinet hardware – There are so many styles, from whimsical to sleek to elegant.  New hardware is a simple change that makes an incredible difference in the look of a kitchen and doesn’t have to be expensive – popular, low cost retailers offer lots of choices!

Are you handy?  You can install a tile backsplash in one weekend.  A backsplash provides a stunning, complementary design statement.

Recover existing chairs and stools – New fabric will give new life to your eating areas!

Add an area rug – Rugs are becoming more popular in kitchens.  You can use one under the kitchen table, near the sink, or along a walking area.  Don’t be afraid of a wool rug under the table – these are very durable!

Just one of these ideas can lead you to a whole new look!  When you are finished, be sure to invite me over for dinner!

Qwik Hits!

The Maricopa Home and Garden Show was a hit! It was funny as we wrangled with where our booth was, but met a lot of terrific folks willing to help us along the entire way.

We met many vendors from throughout the Valley. Most of those vendors represent much of what the Valley has to offer in provider services. There was a display of pest control (an aquarium filled with native scorpions), pool maintenance and supply, and landscape professionals. There were pool builders, roofers, and general contractors from all trades on hand.

These people are the backbone of our local economy!

So QwikBids wanted to meet the folks that made our world go around in the Valley. We wanted to meet the faces behind the work and company names. We wanted to know more about their industries, their challenges, and their success stories. As we went along, we learned more about not only the display of commerce, but also the challenges facing our local, smaller businesses dedicated to their trade.

We will sit still no longer.

QwikBids is ready for the challenge and urges all to embrace a new way of doing business, by not only getting the best price for a service, but also contributing to our trusted charities in our communities.

In an effort to make the community and its leaders aware of our up-and-coming concept, QwikBids is introducing a new, innovative way for all to benefit.  We’ve taken our ideas to the public. It’s time to put our unique way of bringing customers, service providers, and charities together for not only productivity, but also boosting our ailing economy.

QwikBids is planning many more appearances at other shows around the Valley, as well as other venues on local television. Sonoran living will be featuring QwikBids for the second time really soon, and we are doing our part for charity at the Silent Auction and Poker Tournament in Goodyear, hosted by the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

Needless to say, the show ended up being a complete success. We learned how QwikBids can fit into the community and flourish for many years to come, and we learned valuable ways in which to contribute to all.

Qwik Hits!

Commitment to satisfaction doesn’t show itself every day, but at QwikBids, things are a little different. We believe that through registration with us, Service Providers are stating the obvious, “We’ll do whatever it takes to not only provide quality, but competitive pricing as well.

It came as no surprise then, a consumer was so impressed with their contractor they just had to let us know; and so, QwikBids wants you to know too!

“MS” writes, [The company I chose] “was fantastic. They were prompt, clean and did a fantastic job. We had several schedule changes and they were willing and able to accommodate us at the very last minute. I would recommend them to anyone who needs perfect craftsmanship at a very competitive price.”

Keep them coming consumers!

QwikBids is more than happy to share these experiences with our readers, Service Providers, and of course, customers who use our unique system to get the job done right!

Party Decorating 101 – Keep It Simple!

In addition to being the busiest time of year, the holiday season is the most popular time to entertain and make merry with family and friends.  Seek out decorating inspiration that’s simple, yet adds warmth, cheer and style to your home!  Some simple ideas to make your home more festive…

  • Holiday Greenery:  Add holly berries, evergreen boughs, and pine roping to banisters, doorways and centerpieces.  Fill a large bowl with colored glass ornaments for tabletops and mantles.  Easier still, faux evergreens are great looking, re-usable, and easy to find at craft stores.
  • Holiday Scents:  Use pine, gingerbread, sugarplum or peppermint scented candles or potpourri.  Even grocery stores offer candles and “plug-in’s” with seasonal scents.
  • Holiday Table Wrapping:  Linens, placemats or runners add holiday flair to tables.  Turn functional items like chairs, doors, banisters and plant containers into decorations by “wrapping” them in fabric and bows.  Buy green, gold, red, blue, or silver linens without holiday themes and think about all the other occasions in which you can these!
  • Holiday Sparkle:  Use bead strands and candles to create a holiday glow.  String the beads on light fixtures or over window treatments and watch them twinkle!
  • Holiday Sounds:  Have a diverse selection of festive holiday tunes to set the mood for a party – or even for yourself!

Decorate and Forget It!

The most important part of the party should be spending quality time with family and friends.  Keep the holiday displays on the mantle instead of the dinner table so you won’t need to re-arrange for every meal.  Get your decorating done early and simply, so you can sit down and enjoy the season!
