Here is a all too often heard clip about people who need help and getting taken advantage of because of their situation.

This is a true experience. On Sunday March 14th, a friend had locked her keys in her car. She found a service on the internet and was told there was trip charge of $39 and a service charge starting at $29 — sounds reasonable. They even asked for the year, make and model of the automobile, so she thought they were giving her the service charge estimate based on her actual car — WRONG!

When the locksmith arrived and viewed the vehicle, he then said the service charge was $140 because of the “special type” of vehicle. This is one of those frustrating decisions we have to make when we are being taken advantage of. Do we say no and start all over to find another provider, or do we accept the high charge to make “both” of our problems go away (the locked keys and the locksmith) ?

In this case, my friend paid a total bill of $179 — unreasonable!

There maybe good news, car insurance companies may cover the cost to get emergency unlock service if there is a pet locked in the car, however the insurance company usually only pays for this service once.

Learn the right questions to ask when asking for a bid at QwikBids.com

Until next time,

Cathy
